Well this is Exciting… ToyStoreGuide featured in the latest issue of The Toy Book magazine!

The June 2022 edition of The Toy Book was just released and we were excited and surprised to see that ToyStoreGuide was featured in an article with the likes of The Nacelle Company.

Truthfully, it should not have come as that much of a surprise considering we spoke to James Zahn, Deputy Editor of The Toy Book and writer of the article.

For as long as I’ve been alive The Toy Book has been the leading authority and publication dedicated to the toy industry. Adventure Media & Events, LLC, who publish The Toy Book, are also publishers of The Toy Insider and The POP Insider, the go to places for toy news and pop culture merchandise info, respectively.

The feature titled “Connecting Toy Stores Worldwide” talks about how The Nacelle Company’s Toy Stores of the World Passport Program and our website’s database of local independent toy stores are making it fun to find and visit toy stores.

For anyone who does not know, The Passport to the Toy Stores of the World is a physical booklet, just like a real passport, that Toy Store Hunters can buy from a participating local toy store or purchase on The Nacelle Company’s website. Then whenever you visit a toy store you can collect that store’s custom stamp in your passport. Over a hundred stores worldwide already have their stamps and are waiting for your visit. Any toy store could sign up on Nacelle’s site and Nacelle will get the store everything they need to get started.

I grabbed my Passport from Symbiote Collectibles in West Reading, PA. Be sure to follow Toy Stores of the World on Instagram. They are following all the stores that have stamps. The list includes every store from their show “A Toy Store Near You” and so many more listed here on toystoreguide.com (we will be reaching out to any store we haven’t already profiled).

“It’s a fun program and a great way to show your TOY STORE MEGA MAVEN status!”

The coolest part about the article you asked?

That ToyStoreGuide is mentioned in the same conversation as Brian Volk-Weiss and the Nacelle Co. Besides all the award winning comedy specials and documentaries they have produced, they’re also the production company behind “The Toys That Made Us” and “A Toy Store Near You.” The company is also making toys and has recently announced they are reviving the Robo Force line (suction cups and all). And…

Getting noticed by James “the Rockfather” Zahn and the editorial team at The Toy Book is a big deal to us! We started ToyStoreGuide to help people find cool toy stores and help independent toy stores be found. Our team is super stoked to almost be considered peers with the likes of The Toy Book and Nacelle Company.

Even more from this edition of The Toy Book…

The feature article for the latest edition The Toy Book reported on the next generation of toy stores. The story and the cover of the magazine featured a new Canadian store, The Village Toy Castle in Brucefield, ON, Canada. Of course we recently posted a profile for The Village Toy Castle here on toystoreguide.com.

For this article, Zahn writes about the new breed of toy stores and how in a world without Toys ‘R Us they will be the place where the new hot trends will start.

“…independent retailers have become the incubators for new products and ideas…”

The Village Toy Castle is part museum, part store, and aims to be the ultimate play destination for kids (and collectors) of all ages. Owner Isaac Elliott-Fisher is part of the team at Definitive Film. Toy collectors might remember the documentaries Power of Grayskull: The Definitive History of He-Man and the Masters of the Universe and Turtle Power: The Definitive History of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Well now Isaac has purchased a 130 year old building that was once travelers’ inn, then a farmers’ bank and left abandoned until he and his family rescued it, added a Play Castle, a bunch of classic Arcade Games, and a Museum that is constantly adding new pieces. Soon The Village Toy Castle will also be home to Definitive Toys, where they will produce mini figures and castles.

Thanks again to James Zahn and The Toy Book for spreading the word about what we are up to at ToyStoreGuide and for introducing us to Canada’s newest toy destination, The Village Toy Castle.
