Some SWEET Toy Stores near the Sweetest Place on Earth

Planning a trip to Hershey Park in Pennsylvania?

The central PA area known for the great American Chocolate Company is also home to a bunch of scrumptious toy stores.

Hershey Park (for anyone who does not know) is a theme park that was built near the original Hershey Chocolate Factory. The park is great, with rollercoasters, children’s rides, and other interactive attractions. They also have an adjacent water park and zoo and Hershey’s is the only park I know of that allows you to visit all three for one price. A very fair price I might add. In the years since Hersey park opened many other tourist attractions have sprung up in the surrounding area.

Even better are the toy and collectible stores in the area. So if you are planning a trip to Hershey Park add an extra day to visit some toy stores.

Check out just SOME of the Toy Stores in the Hershey, PA area…

Retro & Rad?! The name says it all. With a ton of retro toys and video games for you or that rad person in your life. One wall is lined with video games and the other has loose figures that are bagged and hung to make finding the one you need a breeze. Retro & Rad also has a booth in American Daydream Antiques & Miscellanea in York, PA.

The closest store to Hershey Park, because they recently moved from Hummelstown to Hershey, is Nick Nack’s Full Frontal Attack. A PokeMon trainers dream, they have everything you need to stack the deck in your favor. More than card games, Nick Nack’s also has POPs, Transformers, Hot Wheels, and game related toys. Nick Nack’s Full Frontal Attack… I CHOOSE YOU!

The Treasure Trove Toy Store! Located in the Newberrytown Peddlers Market, the section that Treasure Trove has is bigger than many Toy Stores we have seen. The Trove has a few segmented rooms, like a room for Marvel figures, one for DC, and even a clearance room where I found some cool things for 75% off.  Add in the other vendors, including Die-Cast Cars and other collectibles, Treasure Trove is not a place for toy hunters to skip.

An experience that rivals Hershey Park itself. The Tatted Toy Guys in Elizabethtown. These tattooed gentlemen recently upgraded from their first store to the new Toy Emporium. Walk through the double doors and you will hear a soundtrack that is immediately recognizable while learning that gold is best. The Toy Emporium has a layout and displays that rival the FAO Schwarz of old. With a Disney Star Wars quality stage in the back and a wall stacked with My Pet Monsters, it is definitely something you do not see everyday!  Did I mention the candy store around the corner? The Tatted Toy Guys opened The Candy Unicornium to satisfy your sweet tooth. This is an old school candy store with a new skool style. We can’t wait to see what the guys do next…

If you widen the scope of a trip West then you can visit all the Toy Spots that Pittsburgh has to offer, you know the ones that Nick Bartley frequents on episodes of Hunting Nostalgia. Even more west and you hit Ohio, probably the toy Mecca of the world, but that’s a story for a different day.

Head East and there are a few spots to visit off of the highways before you enter New Jersey where ToyStoreGuide.com has a ton of places listed (mainly because it’s our home court). Collectable Kingdom in Kutztown and VRHobbies in Allentown are not far off of Route 78. Symbiote Collectibles is a bit further south of Route 78 in West Reading, PA but definitely worth the detour. The crew at Symbiote Collectibles pride themselves on being a big part of their community, always taking part in community events. They are the card gaming epicenter of the area, with game events going late into the night.

Hershey, PA is a delectable spot for all sorts of adventures. Between the thrill rides and the thrilling toy collecting, central Pennsylvania and especially the Hershey Park area is a surely sweet destination.
