The Toy Store Guide Thanksgiving Update

It might seem corny but let’s take a few minutes and go over everything we are thankful for…

To start, the Toy Store Guide list continues to expand. There are well over 300 stores listed.

There are alot of stories about big box retailers and how they are struggling with inventory. Well this is not the case at all for the vintage Toy Stores. Even among those independent toy stores that specialize in new figures. Their shelves are full while Walmart and Target are bare. We enjoy highlighting this on our instagram.

ToyStoreGuide.com is also thankful for the Toy Stores that celebrated their grand openings this year. It’s great to see that the Toy Community can support all of these new stores. Seemingly we understand that when we shop small and shop at independent stores that we are supporting our local community.

Remember… “Shop local, The best toy store is the closest one!”

On a personal level, I’m thankful for three big changes from a year ago…

First I am thankful I had the opportunity to travel and see so many Toy Stores that we profiled here on ToyStoreGuide.com. Last year while stuck at home there was time to put in the work and add so many stores to the list. While covid is nowhere near over, this year allowed for more travel than 2020.

I was able to take two road trips this year. Got to visit stores all across the country and talk to shop owners from New York to San Diego. The two best areas that were new to me were Phoenix and Ohio. I had a clear understanding that Ohio (and the entire midwest) is the Toy Mecca of the world.

I was happy to see how strong the Toy Community is in Phoenix. Strong and getting stronger everyday.

This year I am most thankful for all the new friends I have made in the toy community. I am constantly saying how the Toy Community is diverse and accepts everyone. Well this year just helped to reiterate that.

For the last two weeks I have been excited to head out on Black Friday. Not to go to the big box stores but to hit a bunch of the Toy Shops in the area with a crew of Toy Collectors. Some long time friends and contributors to ToyStoreGuide and some new pals I made over the last year from Toy Stores and Toy Shows.

Speaking of Toy Shows and Toy Collections. Check out my pal Damian’s work. He designs, 3D prints, and paints signs for many fandoms.

Pair one with your figure display and things really pop!

I can’t talk about new friends without mentioning the guys out in PA! Toy Store Guide has teamed up with the crew at Hunting Nostalgia. Hunting Nostalgia is a television show that airs throughout the midwest on the Armstrong Neighborhood Channel and is available on YouTube. It’s been awesome working with Nick, Elvira, TJ, and the Angry Cameraman. We continue to push each other and grow, keep an eye out for new things from Hunting Nostalgia.

It would seem that this year there was a lot to be thankful for, and it would seem that there could be even more to be thankful for going forward…
